Advancements in innovation and technology are clear indicators of the building industry progressing towards better built homes. The continuing need for advancement leads all builders to meet Net Zero targets. It starts with a well-built “shell” of a home followed by the internal guts, but at what cost?
In the last 30 years the ICF industry has proven to be a dominating form of Building GREEN, not only meet, but exceed building codes and lowering the consumption of energy.
As a builder working with ICF’s, it didn’t make sense why ICF blocks were cut and discarded, creating waste and affecting the integrity of the block. Why not start the design of a dwelling to suit ICF dimensions instead of designing, selecting an ICF block, then cutting the block to suit the design? It’s simply the design of Lego style installation that leads into cutting of blocks for stack joins and door/window headers.
I wanted to come up with a better design for the ICF world. Immediately, my thought was ” How can we reduce labour costs and eliminate the challenges associated with installation, while maintaining the integrity of a NET ZERO GREEN BUILDING.” My solution – less components, no cutting, simplifying the design and eliminating a bracing system.
As an advocate for Green Building for over 40 years, I invented, engineered and PATENTED an ICF system to lower the cost of building, speed up the installation and combat the challenges of ICF Lego style of installation. ADVANTA-FORM™, the concept, was born.
With years in the making, it’s time for a change!
